I’m excited and honored to have a new piece installed on the Mon River Trail in Morgantown WV for the next year. There are a number of new pieces from regional artists that are currently going in, and it’s nice to see the city investing in local work. Stop by while jogging on the rail trail, see whats been installed.
Towitzer and RDML are heading to the Chautauqua Art Institute this summer to be included in the The Melvin Johnson Sculpture Garden in Chautauqua Institution. Other artists involved in the show are listed below:
excited to get these pieces outside, let the weather do it’s thing. Thanks to Judy Barie and her team in advance for selecting this work!
I recently had the opportunity to work on a large scale in the realm of Iron casting when I participated in the 2015 National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices at Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, AL. It was a fantastic opportunity to make new work, and engage with some of the top artists, faculty, and foundrymen/women in the world who are working in iron. Some images and video of the happenings from the week are below. A huge thanks to all of my large mold workshop mates and the Sloss crew for helping me get a successful casting that approached 375lbs and was really clean.
Pouring Work and the Casting:
After the small works exhibition in Philly, this little guy will be heading to Denver. He was slated to meet his other two mates out there, but they will still be in TX at a show. Exciting to get these pieces out to the public, the feedback has been positive.
“seized” and “imbalance” are making the long trip south to Corpus Christi for the Dimension XLII exhibition this winter. I think I’d like to winter on the Gulf as well. If you are in that neighborhood, go check it out.
“unhinged” has been accepted to the Small Works III exhibition at the Philadelphia Sculpture Gym in December. It’s a really cool idea for a studio and gallery space, and I’m excited to show in my former home…
My piece “seized” was accepted to the HWD: Regional Sculpture Competition in Kettering, OH in late August. “HWD, or Height x Width x Depth, is a juried exhibition celebrating three-dimensional artwork by artists from Ohio and surrounding states. Established in 2007, HWD is the region’s only gallery exhibition focused exclusively on sculpture. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. All artists and the public are invited to attend. United Art and Education Awards are presented at 3 p.m.” Below are updated images of the accepted work, I’ll be crating and shipping early next week-
