Fabrication Day

Finally, a solid day of fabrication in and lots of progress made.  The cleanup on the casting isn’t quite where I want it to be yet, but a few tweaks and it will be ready for paint and some rust.  I haven’t cast a large-scale concrete piece in a while, so I’m excited to get that ball rolling soon.  The first few are process pics of the drilling out of the cast iron hinge, and the fabrication of the steel mounting bracket.  The last few images are of the fabricated components sitting down in the concrete form work, they will need to be centered and supported once the concrete is poured.

New images of my recent work, some process, some with patina.  “unhinged” is the first piece in a new series, “clear, hold, build” that will be investigating our crumbling infrastructure.  Drawings, digital imagery, and water-jet prints will accompany the cast and free-standing work.  More to come soon…
